CENTRAL ILLINOIS BUILDERS - SAFETY AWARD PROGRAM

  1. The awards will be based upon the annual workers’ compensation accident statistics submitted voluntarily by participating members. Forms will be sent to Safety Contacts at the end of each quarter.
  1. “Guidelines and Definitions” are shown below and should answer most questions about the statistics requested.
  1. The Safety Awards twelve-month cycle runs from October 1 to September 30 each year. The safety awards will be presented during the Association Business Session of the Annual Meeting following the end of the twelve-month cycle. Winners will be notified prior to the Annual Meeting.
  1. Reporting of accident statistics and man-hours is no longer limited to individuals exposed to jobsite hazards within the jurisdictional 46-county area of Central Illinois Builders.
  1. Criteria for winning an award is based upon meeting the Bureau of Labor Statistics national average for both OSHA Recordable and Lost Time averages published in December of each year.

 

GUIDELINES

  • Eligible participants are Members of Central Illinois Builders.
  • Accident statistics and man-hours reported are not limited to only those individuals exposed to jobsite hazards.

 

LOST TIME INJURY

Any work-related employee injury which causes the loss of one or more full days of work.  The day of the injury is not counted as a lost workday, even if the employee was injured at the start of the shift.  Enter the total number of lost time injuries incurred during the report period.

 

RESTRICTED WORKDAYS

Any light duty days.

 

OSHA RECORDABLE INJURIES

Any injury such as a cut, fracture, sprain, amputation, etc., which results from a work accident or from an exposure involving a single incident in the work environment.

 

LOST WORKDAYS

Enter the total number of workdays lost as a result of employee work related injuries during the report period.  The number of lost workdays should not include the day of the injury or any days on which the employee would not have worked even though able to work.  The total number of lost workdays should be calculated based upon a 5-day work week (Monday through Friday).

 

EXPOSURE MANHOURS

Enter the total number of jobsite hours worked by all jobsite employees during the report period.

 

FATALITIES

Any work-related injury resulting in the employee’s death.
